I recently opened a new account at SBI, and when I went to collect the passpook, I was given a false direction to mandatorily apply for an insurance, which I did not want right now.
I clarified this on net and found that is was not compulsory, I went forward with this issue to the bank manager who was unfriendly with me, was not at all polite, it was like she was fed up of her job and did not like doing it, so taking little of her anger on me. Adding to this, some random staff member was also in the cabin who was telling me,"if you don't argue apply for the insurance, if you do, don't apply, simple!", meaning to this, if anyone already has an insurance elsewhere, if he/she doesn't argue, has to apply unnecessarily. Also I was polite when I approached them, they were the ones arguing with me and pushing me down, and making me feel like I was a nobody.
When I was leaving the cabin, happy with my clarification that I did not have to apply for the insurance, the staff guy said,"You are a student, you should not argue like this", does this mean I shouldn't fight for my rights.
This is how people get treated in government services contrary to private sections, we need friendlier people here to give us information in a good way, and not misleading them.
Please fire such people, its the reason why India is corrupted.
