My name is Jeetendra Chatorikar. I own a salary account with HDFC bank on the behalf of my company.
After having an account for an year long i was offered a credit card by HDFC Bank.
As i didnt need it i rejected the offer after it i got a call from them saying that there is no harm in keeping the card as the card is free of any charges.
so i took one. i had no use of card so i didnt used it for an year but once i thought of just using it so i payed my hotel bill from it which was around (rs 1100/-)
but when the statement came it had Rs300/- excess which was some annual fees for credit card.
i called the guys at call center and informed them about the case but got very bad experience.
To reach them it used to take more time and once connected they used to either hang up call or say systems are down.
One fine day i got connected to them when system was working and the lady on other side heard my issue and replied in an arrogant tone that i have to pay the charges as well as its HDFC rule. i requested her but then she said there is no way to do it. I refused to pay it and told her that i want to stop the card to which she asked me to break card and put it in ATM drop box.
i again told her i wish to pay my usage amount but i wont pay the additional charges to which she said its not possible to make it i will have to pay amount in full.
As i am not a frequent user of credit card (hardly used it once) had no idea of how to make payment also.
Now its an year long case as i dont like to keep any dues i had time last week so went to an HDFC credit card department with a good thought of clearing it but was surprised as the amount due has been increased to 4500/- and the person there again reiterated that i have to pay full amount.
Now this is very wrong because i am being cheated by HDFC as earlier they told that i wont be charged annual fees but they did it. again they have put so many charges and interest on it that the amount is now very huge.
I do request you to take appropriate actions against HDFC bank. I hope that being the helping body for the consumers, you will review the entire episode and take the appropriate actions against the bank
